Cup Week Punting Tragic

The tips struggled again on Oaks Day, and not only could we not find a winner on top, we couldn't even find one winner in the selections.

It has been an absolutely shocking Cup week on the punt and the Turf Deli tips. Our form up until Caulfield Cup Day this spring was excellent. Our form since then has been pitiful, and we seemed to have lost our tipping mojo somewhere on the train out to Derby Day.

Please return it if you find it. Substantial reward offered.

As we forewarned in the Oaks Day newsletter we were all set for a unprecedented clean sweep of potting the chances of all four feature race winners this week in our feature race previews with the One To Risk.

And the VRC Oaks One To Risk, 8-SET SQUARE dutifully saluted, following on from PROTECTIONIST in the Cup, and PREFERMENT in the Derby. Normally, one or two of these win a season, to complete the clean sweep during Cup Week is just obscene.

We hope you are profiting from our sadistic dud tipping streak.

We are going to take on 7-HUCKLEBUCK in the Emirates, if you want to get on early. We do hope there is at least a statue in it for us if we manage to complete the tragic punting quadrella.

The Betting Portfolio got a little something back, but if the VRC wouldn't mind moving the winning post about 20M back up the straight it would be greatly appreciated.

DON'T BE A LITTER BUG THIS SPRING

MAKYBE DIVA - Three times Melbourne Cup winner, two times Australian Horse of the Year and Australia Racing Hall of Fame inductee says :

Please dispose of your rubbish thoughtfully.

THE MOUNTING YARD
______________________________________

Expert punters know how important it is to check out the condition of your horse in the Mounting Yard before the race.

#1 - THE GIRTH

Study this closely. Look for muscle definition, tone and fat around the stomach area to show what sort of condition the horse is in.

Then look downwards and repeat the same process on yourself.

#3 - A HORSE WALKS INTO A BAR

Whilst some racehorses strive to race into Equine Immortality, others are quite content to just have an on-course bar named after them.

FLEMINGTON TRACK GUIDE
______________________________________

If you are heading out to races during Cup Week check out our Flemington Track Guide.

Handy hints with associated nonsense about where to meet, where to hang out and how to avoid the queues on course.

Getting There
-The train is the only way to go - don't even think about driving. Trains leave Flinders St and Southern Cross every few minutes during Cup week and will take you straight there. Enjoy the scenic ride as you go through the Flemington industrial estate and past the large pie in the sky in the Showgrounds. Remember to touch on and that you need to pre-book tickets during Cup Week as there are no tickets for sale on the gate

The Bart Statue
- We are pretty sure, that if you read the fine print on your entry ticket, you will find that it is actually one of the compulsory Terms and Condition of entry to get your photo taken with the Bart Cummings statue. Wander past at any time during Cup Week and you will find madly grinning punters posing with Bart for a photo opportunity.

Toilets:
- It always pays to know where the sturdy, spacious permanent toilet blocks are. If you go out the back of the course, towards the main car park, past the book makers ring, just near the Flemington Heritage centre there is a major, solid, permanent and very under utilised toilet block. No frustrating lines for the ladies in their race day finest.
