What Does A Horse Have To Do To Get Noticed Around Here?

Ever feel like you are struggling to stand out from the crowd?

Do people walk straight into you like you are not even there?

Do you fail to get recognition in the workplace despite years of top level achievements?

Well - you probably know how poor old MOURINHO feels then!

We do wonder what a horse has to do to get noticed by punters sometimes.

MOURINHO has been in fantastic form over the last 18 months, and has been especially good to Turf Deli punters winning when tipped as Best Rough at Moonee Valley this time last year, and winning again last week at Caulfield as the Best Win bet.

In fact, his last four first up runs now read as:

1st Lawrence Stakes Group 2 15/08/2015 W=$8
1st Australia Stakes Group 2 24/01/2015 W=$31
1st Moonee Valley 23/08/2015 W=$20
2nd Flemington 01/03/2015 W=$101

You really can't get much better punting value that that!

Plus there was a Cranbourne Cup and a Peter Young (St George Stakes) (Group 2) win as well.

Yet despite having now won 10 times from 36 starts you will struggle to find a run where he has started favourite. Punters just don't seem that interested and he keeps going around at really good odds. The esteemed title of betting favourite is reserved for such reliable betting propositions as LORD OF THE SKY (beaten favourite at $1.90, $1.95, $1.40, $1.90, $2.90 and $2.35) (and no we have never, ever backed it).

MOURINHO is being aimed at the Cox Plate again this year. Last year he wasn't even allowed to run. They just stopped him at the door and asked "Who the heck are you buddy? Sorry, it is Members Only tonight", whilst waving all the young three year olds straight in.

In fact, he is so low profile that most of you probably didn't even notice that we posted a photo of MOURINHO the ex soccer player and manager with this story - and not the racehorse. Did you?

Last Week's Results

Nice Start To Spring

We got off to a very nice start to our Spring Campaign 2015 last week at Caulfield, with our Best Win bet of the day getting up at tasty odds in the feature race.

Overall, there were two winners on top and four winners in the selections, a few quinellas, a few glaring over sights, a few awkward moments, but mainly good news for the Turf Deli punters.

Race 3: 3-DIG A PONY 1st W=$4.00 - top pick
Race 5: 7-GOLD SYMPHONY 1st W=$6.50, Quinella: $25.60
Race 6: 5-PETITS FILOUS 1st W=$1.90, Quinella: $3.70
Race 7: 3-MOURINHO 1st W=$7.80 - top pick

BEST WIN: Race 7: 3-MOURINHO 1st W=$7.80

The $50 Betting Portfolio racked up a nice profit in the first week. Which is always a good way to start and also to create incredibly unrealistic expectations for the rest of the year.

2015 Spring Campaign: 1 week - 1 profit - 0 returns - 0 wipe out. Net: +$41.50

We report all of our results as a $1 Victorian TAB tote dividend as a consistent benchmark that everyone has access to, no matter when the bet is placed, though often better odds are available through the various corporate bookmakers.
