Turf Deli Racing News

Confused Much?

What is the collective noun for a group of WFA racehorses going across the line in a tightly bunched group?

Maybe a confusement of racehorses?

How about a race callers nightmare?

Here are the photo finishes from racing.com for last week's Maykbe Diva Stakes and the Memsie Stakes from a few weeks ago.

In the Makybe Diva Stakes there was 12 horses within 2.35L of the winner. In the Memise there were 12 horses within 3.25L of the winner. Ten of the same horses competed in both events, with barely anything between them.

"We feel like such a tightly knitted group now" said one runner, "and we have really bonded as a unit. Really looking forward to the next catch up in a few weeks and working together as a team. Synchronised horse racing is going to be the next big thing. "

Whilst it is great for humans to all huddle together to get a good selfie photo, the same doesn’t really apply to racehorses. That's why we don’t give them selfie sticks. We really don't want to encourage this sort of behaviour.

So punters - who do you back going forward? All of them are going to improve. How do you decide between them? (without using a ruler).

Our view is you only pick one from the finish, and look for horses with new form lines in the next race.

The other option is to just go totally mad looking for every minor argument for and against each runner. We prefer to keep the punting madness for Cup Week though.

Last Week's Results

12 Cups and a few winners

It was a fantastic day's racing at Flemington last weekend, with some spring weather (finally), free entry, and Bart's 12 Cups on public display inspiring much awe.

The tips didn't quite inspire as much awe though, but there were a few winners floating around.

The detailed form preview was worth a read again, with the Roughie in the main race 15-RISING ROMANCE running 2nd W=$15.20, and we launched the most unconvincing argument ever as to our Lay of the Day, Race 8: 6-NOBLE PROTECTOR 13th W=$2.90 who started at short odds, got stuck on the rails, and disappointed, which is what we meekly predicted.

The Betting Portfolio made a small profit with the confident top pick and Best Each Way Bet getting up in the Bobbie Lewis down the straight. It just wasn't quite enough to nudge us back into season profit though.

BEST EACH WAY: Race 6: 11-CHURCHILL DANCER 1st W=$8.50

2015 Spring Campaign: 5 weeks - 2 profits - 3 returns - 0 wipe out. Net: $-9.80

We report all of our results as a $1 Victorian TAB tote dividend as a consistent benchmark that everyone has access to, no matter when the bet is placed, though often better odds are available through the various corporate bookmakers.

You can play along with us this spring by opening a Sportsbet account and following the weekly tips. Make sure you are getting the best odds and money back offers possible with Top Tote Plus from Sportsbet.

How good are these these money back offers from the corporate bookmakers!

FROM THE STEWARDS REPORT
___________________________________

Sandown 26/08/2015 - Race 7

The smart punter reads the Stewards report in detail.

It is full of crucial information for punters doing the form, and looking for a winner.

Vital information that punters need to know. Such as:
- WHO has had baby oil applied
- and WHERE?

NO JAB, NO PUNT
________________________________

Racecourses will be soon enforcing a strict no jab, no punt policy to protect other punters from nasty punting contagions.

All punters are expected to be fully immunised with PUNTVAC - The Punter's Vaccine.

Ask for it today at your local chemist or over the counter at the TAB.

One single dose is all it takes for effective protection against a wide range of common punting ailments such as:

- three legged quaddies
- unexpected protests
- going wide in the first leg of the quad and the favourite getting up

Try it today.

The side effects are minimal and the polka dot rash is normally gone by the time they jump in the last.

In the carve up of assets earlier this year after the financial collapse of racing network TVN there was one prime piece of real estate that was over looked.

CAULFIELD: THE TVN BUNKER

With classic box inspired dimensions, sweeping racetrack views and with the Mounting Yard virtually on your doorstep this is truly a unique investment opportunity.

Just as iconic as a Brighton Beach bathing box, one of a kind and ironically, still bigger than most new apartments being built in Melbourne these days.

Renovate, or live in as is - the possibilities are endless.*
